Before your spray tan, it’s important to prep your skin. The tanners in our sunless solutions work best on a smooth surface, so follow these guidelines.
1.
Shave to remove unwanted body hair
2.
Exfoliate your entire body with a mild, oil-free exfoliant. Pay special attention
to dry knees, elbows, and feet. If you have extra dry skin, we recommend using a deep, moisturizing exfoliant, like an oil-based salt scrub, 24 hours before your session and then a mild exfoliant on the morning of your session.
3.
Shower but do not apply body oil or moisturizer as this can create a barrier on your skin.
4.
Remove any makeup or deodorant.
5.
Pull your hair up and away from your face with a hair tie.
6.
Remove your contact lenses, clothing, shoes, and jewelry. (Wear a black bikini or black cotton underwear if that makes you more comfortable.)
To ensure a great result after your spray tan, be sure to follow these guidelines.
1.
Within the next 8 hours of your custom spray tan, avoid any activity that would cause sweating; exercise, cleaning, or showering, as your tan is developing during these hours. Contact with water or sweat could result in lines or uneven tanning.
2.
If you choose not to shower, we suggest that you cover your bed with dark sheets and pillow cases so that any bronzer does not stain your regular sheets. Remember if you have natually fair skin we advise you to rinse down with water within an 8 hour period to stop the DHA from reacting giving you a more intense tan that would not give you that sun kissed look.
3.
Shower after 8 hours with no soap on any area that has been sprayed. During the first shower you will see the cosmetic bronzer wash away from your skin. This is completely normal, and is only the cosmetic bronzer (instant tan that you could see after your spray tan). The cosmetic bronzer is used to give immediate tan results. Do not be concerned by this, as your developed tan is still there and will develop more in the next 24 hours
4.
Wash with a mild, moisturizing shower gel and DO NOT exfoliate.
5.
While you are drying, remember to pat, not rub your skin.
6.
Apply a moisturizer with sunscreen in the morning, and a tan extending lotion at night.
7.
The life of your spray tan depends on the care you take of your skin. Moisturize twice a day. The following products have been shown to reduce the number of days that a spray tan will remain on the skin, so try to find alternatives or simply avoid these products until just before your next spray tanning session.Band Aids, Face Masks, Deep Cleaning Pore Strips, Anti Aging or Anti Acne products, Bar Soaps, Hair Removal Creams and Shaving.
8.
If at all possible, you should try to avoid contact with chlorine or excessive sweating inside of closed toed shoes, as both can lead to premature fading of a spray tan. If you notice uneven or premature fading of your spray tan, you can always correct this by touching up your spray tan with our cosmetic bronzer spray tanning product or our 4-Faces Touch up spray.
